I teach something called Joyful Movement…

Even though I’m a trained yoga teacher, I don’t usually call my sessions ‘yoga’…

Why?

Because many people have lots of ideas in their heads about what yoga is… or isn’t.

Maybe you do too?

In the past, used to say ‘I teach yoga for people who don’t like yoga.’

But I’m not sure that’s true either.

Because you might like traditional yoga AND my classes.

So I started calling it Joyful Movement…

  • My Joyful Movement sessions are yoga-inspired, but most of the time they don’t look anything like traditional yoga.

They are designed to be fun and inclusive. The aim is to connect with your body and get out of your head.

It’s not about doing fancy poses or making beautiful shapes.

It’s definitely not about fitness or changing your body.

The sessions are a mix of lots of different things I love:

    • Tai Chi

    • Dance

    • Martial arts

    • Kids yoga

    • Improv

    • Lots of general silliness and fun

I encourage you to tap into the child-like joy movement can awaken in all of us, in a safe and non-judgemental environment.

We work on movements to improve coordination and body awareness and control, using our body for movements we might not normally do. And if your body doesn’t do it, we laugh about it!

There’s no right or wrong. There’s no being ‘good at it’ or ‘bad at it’.

  • I am a trained yoga teacher (and school teacher), but I’ve always been passionate about making yoga, and all types of movement, inclusive and accessible.

The wellness and fitness industry can be daunting, and even toxic - promoting certain body types and encouraging people to change their bodies. I’ve never taught yoga or movement in gyms or yoga studios for this reason.

I believe that everyBODY has the right to move their body in a way that feels good for them, in a place that feels safe and welcoming.

For me, yoga isn’t about movement at all - it’s a way of seeing and relating to life.

It’s about connecting with yourself and your body, and the wisdom it can offer you.

  • I believe health includes having a healthy RELATIONSHIP with your body.

There is nothing healthy about hating your body. And there’s definitely nothing healthy about moving your body because you hate it, want to change how it looks, or as a ‘punishment’ for what you ate!

All bodies deserve dignity, respect, care and nourishment. I reject the idea that health comes in a ‘size’ or in a particular way of moving, eating or in a certain lifestyle.

You do not need to buy into diet culture’s messages about what health looks like. Your version of health is unique to you.

And you already have all the wisdom you need to be the expert of YOUR BODY.

  • Movement is part of being human, and can be such a joyful experience.

Unfortunately, the messages we get from society tell us that it's something we 'must' do in order to be 'fit' and change our bodies.

Watch young children - do they move because they 'have to', or do they move because they want to? Because it feels good!?

Weather you avoid exercise completely, or you’re riddled with guilt if you miss a workout, learning to listen to your body and move intuitively (and joyfully) is key to healing your relationship with movement (and your body).

Come find the joy in movement!

Movement Parties

What is a Movement Party?!

Well, I’m glad you asked…

We begin with a movement workshop - Some Joyful Movement to get you loose, giddy and warmed up for the party (both physically and mentally).

It’s like having that first drink to take the edge off your social anxiety, or to have something to do with your hands, or to ‘get into it’. But without the need to buy a drink!

And then… Well… We have a party!

I DJ a selection of great tunes to get you dancing.

And we finish at a reasonable hour so we can all get a good night’s sleep!

What could be better!?

You can catch me teaching movement workshops at events and festivals, and in parks and outdoor spaces around Liverpool throughout the summer.

Schools

I offer tailored Joyful Movement and / or Intuitive Eating and Body Image sessions for both primary and secondary schools, creating a safe and supportive space where students can:

  • Explore the topic of Body Image and learn to view themselves with kindness

  • Understand the basics of Intuitive Eating and learn to trust their own body and respond to their bodies’ needs

  • Let go of judgment and self-consciousness through Joyful Movement and playful expression

In today’s world of social media and conflicting messages about health, bodies and food, it’s so important that young people are able to view and treat themselves with kindness and trust themselves and their own bodies. Many struggle with body image and a disordered relationship with food. My school workshops are designed to offer students a chance to reconnect with their bodies and build confidence and trust in their own inner wisdom.

Schools can choose from:

  • Joyful Movement Sessions – movement-based workshops that focus on self-expression, body connection, body acceptance and having fun in a non-judgmental space.

  • Body Image and Intuitive Eating Workshops – discussion-based sessions exploring body respect, food freedom and media literacy.

  • Combined Workshops – blending both movement and Intuitive Eating / Body Image education, for a well-rounded, embodied experience.

I am passionate about helping young people get out of their heads and into their bodies, and equipping them with tools to resist harmful cultural messages.

These workshops are all about empowering students to feel good in their skin - just as they are.

I am fully DBS checked on the update service and have 12 years of experience working in schools and with young people.

My Joyful Movement sessions offer staff the opportunity to reset, de-stress, and have fun together in a welcoming, non-judgmental space.

These sessions are suitable for all bodies and all abilities - no yoga experience or fitness level required. They’re about moving for joy, not performance. Expect gentle, playful movement, breathwork, body awareness, and laughter.

Sessions can be tailored to suit your team’s needs, space, and time constraints - whether it’s a 60-minute energiser, a full morning retreat-style session, or part of a wider wellbeing programme.

Staff don’t need any special clothes or equipment like mats, and the sessions can be tailored to fit the space available.
